Error while converting hdr secondary server to standard mode

Troubleshooting

Problem

Error while converting hdr secondary to standard mode

Resolving The Problem

INTRODUCTION
When onmode -d standard is issued on the seconday server receive message:

onmode -d standard

DR: Unable to change server type
onmode: Please check the message log for errors.

Message in the online.log is :
DR: DR should be turned off for Secondary to Standard type change.

The restriction of DR being off for a change from Secondary to Standard type, is necessary to: avoid users accidentally changing the Secondary server to a Standard server, when the Primary is up; else users have to resynchronize DR which involves following the entire procedure for “Starting High-Availability Data Replication for the First Time on secondary”(a time-consuming operation).

HOW TO AVOID THIS PROBLEM

Database server type can be changed from secondary to standard only if HDR is turned off on the secondary database server. HDR is turned off when either the Primary database server is down or Primary database server is converted to standard mode.
