Error "undefined variable: WAS_LIBS_DIR" when creating datasources during Case Foundation Business Process Framework 4.1 install

Problem

Unable to create datasources on IBM® WebSphere Application Server. Receives "java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: undefined variable: WAS_LIBS_DIR" error.

Symptom

Cannot create datasources.

Cause

The value for WAS_LIBS_DIR environment variable is missing in IBM® WebSphere Application Server.

Environment

Microsoft Windows Server 2003, IBM WebSphere 6.1, Oracle 10g, BPF 4.1

Resolving The Problem

Here is the procedure to verify the value for WAS_LIBS_DIR environment variable :

1. Logon to IBM® WebSphere Admin Console.

2. Browse to Environment section.

3. Choose WebSphere Variables.

4. Verify whether the value for variable "WAS_LIBS_DIR" exists.

5. The value for variable "WAS_LIBS_DIR" should point to "\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer\lib" directory

Example:
WAS_LIBS_DIR = ${WAS_INSTALL_ROOT}/lib
WAS_INSTALL_ROOT = C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer
