Problem
How do I get past the error message, "Unable to communicate with DOORS....." When exporting from Microsoft Word to IBM Rational DOORS?
Cause
This is caused when Microsoft Office is installed after Rational DOORS is currently installed on a workstation.
Resolving The Problem
To resolve the issue, log into the system as the Local Administrator of the system and try exporting a Microsoft Word document into Rational DOORS.
Explanation of solution:
The first time a user performs an export to Microsoft Word they must have Admin privileges. This is because the Rational DOORS application object and its COM or DCOM components are not registered in the Microsoft Windows Registry. These registry entries are created the first time the Word Marco is used. The first time the Word Macro is used, the user must have admin access to it.
