Troubleshooting


Problem

The DXL crash error message occurs after entering the username, password and clicking "OK" in the "Login - DOORS" dialog box.

Symptom

The DXL error message that appears is shown below in detail:

  • -R-E- DXL: <DOORSHOME directory/lib/dxl/config/baseWindowShow2.inc:46> An unexpected error has occurred: doors.exe caused an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION in module doors.exe at 001B:0089FD00

    -R-E- DXL: <wizard/welcome/welcomewiz.dxl:575> An unexpected error has occurred: doors.exe caused an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION in module doors.exe at 001B:008ADD3E

Cause

The error occurs if the Rational DOORS client is run on Microsoft Windows 2000. From Rational DOORS version 8.3, Microsoft Windows 2000 platform is not supported.

Diagnosing The Problem

Check if the operating system is Microsoft Windows 2000

Resolving The Problem

To resolve the error, install the Rational DOORS client on one of the supported Operating Systems.
The supported Operating Systems are:

Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Microsoft Windows Vista Business Edition
Microsoft Windows Vista Enterprise Edition
