Troubleshooting
Problem
You are using the ISO file to install IBM Security Guardium v11.3 or higher on a virtual machine.
During setup, you see an unfamiliar message and menu options.
Your BIOS-based system needs a special partition to boot from a GPT disk label.
If you proceed, installation completes but the main disk partition is too small, usually only 50 GB.
Cause
Beginning in v11.3 Guardium appliances support 2 TB and larger disks. This support requires the use of UEFI firmware, not the BIOS firmware used in previous versions. If the partition size is less than 2 TB, BIOS firmware still works.
Diagnosing The Problem
In the Guardium browser portal, the notification bell displays a warning about the small partition size.
Resolving The Problem
Rebuild the VM.
When you configure settings for the new VM, choose UEFI instead of BIOS. In many VM hypervisors, this setting is under:
VM Options > Boot Options > Firmware.
