Enabling DCN results in error '-F- DBADMIN: Authorize operation failed : Legacy-encryption password needs reset'

Troubleshooting


Problem

Attempts to enable DCN while setting up IBM Rational DOORS Web Access results in the error ‘-F- DBADMIN: Authorize operation failed : Legacy-encryption password needs reset’.

Cause

The encryption method employed in DOORS 9.x when data is migrated from previous versions has affected the the password for the DOORS Database Server Admin Tool (DBAdmin).

Resolving The Problem

Follow these steps to reset the DBAdmin password::

  1. Go to the DOORS Data directory
  2. Rename the file dbdata.dtc to dbdata.dtc.old
  3. Restart the DOORS Database service
  4. Enable DCN using the same command as mentioned in the manual:


    dbadmin -data     port@myserver -dcnEnable -dcnBrokerUri “tcp://myBroker:61616” -dcnChannelName “dcn”
