This document describes how to download installation images for IBM Spectrum Protect Plus Version 10.1.8.x.

Images on Fix Central online

To get the latest features and enhancements, it is required to update IBM Spectrum Protect Plus from a previous version or release. Software patches and updates are delivered on Fix Central and installed by using the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus administrative console.

The Fix Central online website contains update files for IBM Spectrum Protect Plus for download. The HTTP link in the section "Download package" directs to the Fix Central online website.

The images available through Fix Central do not contain license enablement files. You must install a base level package to use these images.

You can optionally expand the environment with the images listed in the following sections. These images can be installed at any time after the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server component is installed and deployed.

vSnap Server and VADP proxy
In larger backup enterprise environments, more vSnap servers might be required.
You can create proxies to run VMware backup jobs through vStorage API for Data Protection (VADP) in Linux environments. The proxies reduce demand on system resources by enabling load sharing and load balancing.

Container backup support
Container Backup Support is a feature of IBM Spectrum Protect Plus that extends data protection to containers in Kubernetes or OpenShift clusters. Before you can back up and restore persistent volumes that are attached to your containers, you must install and deploy Kubernetes or OpenShift backup support images.

You can install Container Backup Support in an air gap cluster by using the installation package from IBM Passport Advantage Online. An air gap cluster is any Kubernetes or OpenShift cluster that does not have internet access, and therefore cannot pull container images from a Docker registry. The air gap installation package includes the container images for Container Backup Support. During the installation, the container images are loaded by the docker load command and then tagged and pushed to the Docker registry that is specified in the baas-options.sh file. As a result, the container images can be pulled during the Helm installation. License

A license key is required to convert the trial version to a fully licensed version.

Note: Entitlement to protect Microsoft Office 365 is NOT included in the IBM Spectrum Protect Suites or the IBM Spectrum Storage Suite, therefore needs to be purchased separately. For test and proof of concept purposes the license is not required. Images on IBM Helm Chart Repository by using IBM Entitled Registry

Container backup support image
Container Backup Support is a feature of IBM Spectrum Protect Plus that extends data protection to containers in Kubernetes or OpenShift clusters.
You can download and install Container Backup Support from the IBM Helm Charts Repository by using IBM Entitled Registry. This is a fast and convenient deployment option for Kubernetes or OpenShift clusters that have internet access. The Helm package is smaller in size and therefore takes less time to download. Internet access is required to pull containers at deployment time.

Important:

When you update IBM Spectrum Protect Plus, at a minimum, you must have enough free space to complete the installation. Generally, you must have 4.5 GB available in the /tmp directory for offline updates and 500 MB available in the /tmp directory for online update. Additionally, you must have 1.5 GB free in the /var directory and 2 GB free in the root directory.
Do not change the names of the files that you download. The original file names are required for the installation or update process to complete without errors.
For the host name of the OVA deployment, do not use a name that includes the underscore character "_".

Download Package

The HTTP link in the Download Options column directs you to the following sites:

Passport Advantage online website. Passport Advantage is a secure website that requires an account ID and password. It has all of the images associated with IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.8 available for download.

You can locate images on the Passport Advantage online website by using the part number as the search query. For example, to locate the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus for VMware virtual appliance, use the search query G00M9ZX, and for IBM Spectrum Protect Plus for Hyper-V virtual appliance, use G00MBZX.
IBM Entitled Registry is a central repository. The Helm chart for Container Backup Support is available in the IBM Helm Chart Repository. The Helm package contains links to the IBM Entitled Registry.

Before you can pull docker images from the IBM Entitled Registry, you must obtain a key from the IBM Container Library. You can go to IBM Container Library to get your entitlement key, which reflects all products that you have purchased.
Fix Central online website. Fix Central is a secure website that requires you to log in using your IBM ID. Fix Central allows to search, select, order, and download fixes to your system with a choice of delivery options. You can acquire an IBM ID for free at Sign up to IBMid
You can locate images on the Fix Central online website by using the product name, version, and platform as the search query. For example, use the "IBM Spectrum Protect Plus".
Reminder: The images available through Fix Central do not contain license enablement files. Install previous a base level package before use these packages.
