This document describes how to download installation images for IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.12.x.

Download Description

The download description section is divided into linked sections. Use the following links to go to the section of the document that you require.

Important: All existing virtual appliance deployments running 10.1.10 and earlier were built on the CentOS 7 operating system. To upgrade to 10.1.12, the existing CentOS 7 operating system must be migrated to new virtual appliances running Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 8). All server versions 10.1.9 must be updated to 10.1.10 or later before you upgrade to 10.1.12. Images on Fix Central online

To get the most current features and enhancements, it is required to update IBM Spectrum Protect Plus from a previous version or release. Maintenance packages and interim fixes are delivered on Fix Central. The HTTP link in the section "Download package" directs to the Fix Central online website.

The maintenance packages and interim fixes available through Fix Central do not contain the required license enablement files. For initial installation of IBM Spectrum Protect Plus, you must obtain your packages, with the associated license enablement files, from the Passport Advantage Online website.

Images on IBM Entitled Registry

IBM Spectrum Protect Plus can be installed on a Red Hat OpenShift cluster environment. The installation process uses the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus operator and the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus container backup support agent operator, which deploy and manage all the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus components on Red Hat OpenShift.

You can download and install the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server as a set of containers by using one of the several methods, see Installing IBM Spectrum Protect Plus in a container environment.

You can install IBM Spectrum Protect Plus container backup support by using an operator in an online environment, see Installing and configuring Container Backup Support.

You can update IBM Spectrum Protect Plus on an Red Hat OpenShift cluster by first updating the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus operator and then updating the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server instance followed by updating Container Backup Support, see Updating IBM Spectrum Protect Plus Server and Container Backup Support in a container environment.

  • IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.12.6: delivered the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus as a set of containers and the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus container backup support agent.
  • IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.12.5: delivered the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus container backup support agent.
  • IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.12.4: delivered the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus as a set of containers and the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus container backup support agent.
  • IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.12.3: delivered the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus as a set of containers and the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus container backup support agent.
  • IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.12.2: delivered the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus as a set of containers and the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus container backup support agent.
  • IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.12.1: delivered the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus container backup support agent.

    These images contain all of the components required to host an IBM Spectrum Protect Plus data protection environment.
    Note: As of 26 October 2022, IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.12 for Hyper-V, M07BNML.exe (build number 124), is replaced with the package M08WHML.exe (build number 125), see also APAR IT42052.

    You can optionally expand the environment with the images listed in the following sections. These images can be installed at any time after the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server component is installed and deployed.
     

  • vSnap Server and VADP proxy
    In larger backup enterprise environments, more vSnap servers might be required.
    You can create proxies to run VMware backup jobs through vStorage API for Data Protection (VADP) in Linux environments. The proxies reduce demand on system resources by enabling load sharing and load balancing.

    A license key is required to convert the trial version to a fully licensed version.

    A subscription license is required to support Microsoft Office 365 Exchange Online and OneDrive.

A perpetual license option is not available.

    Note: Entitlement to protect Microsoft Office 365 is NOT included in the IBM Spectrum Protect Suites or the IBM Spectrum Storage Suite, therefore needs to be purchased separately. For test and proof of concept purposes, the license is not required. Note:

  • When you update IBM Spectrum Protect Plus, at a minimum, you must have enough free space to complete the installation. Generally, you must have 4.5 GB available in the  /tmp directory for offline updates and 500 MB available in the /tmp directory for online update. Additionally, you must have 1.5 GB free in the /var directory and 2 GB free in the root directory.
  • Do not change the names of the files that you download. The original file names are required for the installation or update process to complete without errors.
  • For the hostname of the OVA deployment, do not use a name that includes the underscore character "_".

    Fix Central provides fixes and updates for your system's software, hardware, and operating system. Fix Central is a secure website that requires you to log in using your IBMid. You can acquire an IBMid at  Sign up to IBMid.
    You can locate the images on the Fix Central online website by using the product name, version, and platform as the search query. For example, use the "IBM Spectrum Protect Plus".
    Reminder: The images available through Fix Central do not contain license enablement files. Install previous a base level package before you use these packages.

  • Passport Advantage Online website:
    Passport Advantage is a secure website that requires an account ID and password. It has all of the images associated with IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.12.x available for download.
    You can locate the images on the Passport Advantage Online website by using the part number as the search query.
