Problem
Attempts to export a module in IBM Rational DOORS to Microsoft Word results in the error "OLE method failed: problem with OLE Argument names: This method or property is not available because the Clipboard is empty or not valid".
Symptom
DOORS module export to Microsoft Word fails with OLE error "...Clipboard is empty or not valid"
Cause
This issue was identified as a product defect and logged under APAR PM17605.
Resolving The Problem
The defect is resolved in DOORS 9.3 Fix Pack 5
This error occurs with larger data sets because Microsoft Windows is running out of Paged Memory from the data you are putting on the clipboard. A suggestion to correct this error is to double the maximum paging file size for the operating system. You need to reboot the machine after you have adjusted the size for the changes to take effect
WORKAROUND:
Export the module to RTF then open the document in MS Word and save it as a .doc file
This has proven to be an effective method in lieu to exporting large data sets directly to Microsoft Word.
