DOORS LOCALDATA issue with Citrix

Question & Answer

Question

How can I avoid the following error message I get when I try to login to my DOORS client through Citrix? The full error message is as follows: "Directory 'C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Telelogic\DOORS\TEMP' specified by LOCALDATA does not exist"

Answer

Since DOORS 8.3, the LOCALDATA has been defined in the registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Telelogic\DOORS\<VERSION>\Config. To avoid this error you can do one of two things:

  1. Remove the LOCALDATA key from the above location and put it in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Telelogic\DOORS\<Version>\Config location
  2. In Citrix where you have the DOORS application published, there will be a target line to the doors.exe file, at the end of this target append the -localdata "c:\temp" parameter with the path you wish to set the LOCALDATA to which all users who use Citrix have write access to.
