Does SPSS Statistics compute tetrachoric correlation coefficients?

Troubleshooting

Problem

I have binary data and would like to compute tetrachoric correlation coefficients, but I don't see a way to do this in SPSS Statistics. Can these be done, aside from implementing formulas manually?

Resolving The Problem

SPSS Statistics currently does not have a procedure that will produce tetrachoric or polychoric correlations. However, there is an extension, SPSSINC_HETCOR, available from IBM developerWorks, that computes polychoric and polyserial correlations using an R package. Tetrachoric correlations are a special case of polychoric correlations applied to two binary variables. The extension requires the Python and R plugins. It is available from https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/mydeveloperworks/files/app?lang=en#/person/270002VCWN/file/dd26db1f-a481-45a9-bb26-ce8ceab65f4b .
