IBM Support

Discovery does not handle gaps in the OIDs returned by an SNMP agent.

Troubleshooting

Problem

When looking at the inventory on a device that has been discovered some inventory is missing.

For example interfaces up to a specific ifIndex have been discovered successfully but others beyond that ifIndex have not.

Symptom

When looking at the log file for the SNMP Helper, we see that it only discovers indexes up to a certain point.

When we walk the index with the Net-SNMP tool snmpwalk, we can retrieve the whole index.

However, we do have to run snmpwalk with the command line option -Cc to allow it to step over gaps in the index.
