Resolving The Problem
This document includes information on how to determine the worldwide port name on an IBM i server.
On occasion, it may be necessary to locate the WWPN (Worldwide Port Name) of a storage IOA. The port name can be found by doing the following:
1. | Issue the STRSST command. |
2. | Sign in with the Service Tools profile/password. |
3. | Select Option 1. Start a service tool. |
4. | Select Option 7. Hardware service manager. |
5. | Select Option 2. Logical hardware resources (buses, IOPs, controllers,...). |
6. | Select Option 1. System bus resources. |
7. | Locate the appropriate CMBxx (Combined Function IOP) in Resource Name column. |
8. | Select Option 9=Resources associated with IOP. |
9. | Locate the DCxx (Storage IOA) in Resource Name column. |
10. | Select Option 5=Display detail. |
The Auxiliary Storage Hardware Resource Detail screen should provide the WWPN similar to the following:
Port
Worldwide port name . . . . . . . : 10000000xxxxxxxx
Disk Information
If you need to map out disk units to DS8xxx storage (disk type 2107), follow these directions.
1) Use the command DSPHDWRSC TYPE(*STG) to list the storage resources and select storage controller where the disks are attached
2) Find the disk unit and put in option 7 to display the resource details
3) The "Serial Number" field that is highlighted (4 characters) is the LUN ID. The "Location" field has a Wxxxxxxxxxx which is highlighted in the below picture. The characters after the W is the WWPN
