Troubleshooting

Problem

When old releases go out of service, IBM removes the associated Knowledge Center from the web. This makes the information about features that were deprecated or removed unavailable.

Diagnosing The Problem

You find that the List of all deprecated and removed features does not link to a knowledge center for more information about deprecations and removals for an old release.

Resolving The Problem

This topic contains information about features that were deprecated or removed in versions 7.5 and 8.0.
Features deprecated in V7.5
Recommended action
Visual Mining NetCharts Pro charting engine Use the ILOG JViews Chart charting engine.
Human Workflow Diagram widget Replace the Human Workflow Diagram widget with the Process Information widget. You can use the same wiring and configure the Process Information widget to only enable the diagram mode.
AUDIT_LOG view Use the AUDIT_LOG_B view.
VERSION property on the PROCESS_TEMPLATE view
IBM Business Process Choreographer Explorer reporting function Use custom code or use the IBM Business Monitor.
Common Base Event formats:
  • 6.0.2 format (legacy XML)
  • Legacy hexBinary
Use formats 6.1, 6.2 and 7.0.
Common Base Event loggers:
  • WBILocationMonitor.LOG
  • WBILocationMonitor.CEI
Use formats 6.1, 6.2 and 7.0.
Deployment Environment wizard To configure a custom deployment environment, configure each application server cluster (and product component) individually using their associated console panels.

EJB APIs deprecated in V7.5 New API

ProcessTemplateData: getVersion()
Features removed in V7.5 Recommended action
Support for adding custom coach templates has been removed. It is no longer possible to configure Process Center such that new templates will show in the palette of the coach editor. Leverage the new coach support added in V8.0, which provides robust support for custom UI components in human services.
Features deprecated in V8.0 Recommended action
Business Process Choreographer JMS API To develop JMS-based client applications, use the Business Process Choreographer web services API with the SOAP/JMS transport protocol.
Selector components provide a single interface to a service that might change results based on certain criteria. The selector component includes an interface and a selector table. Use a mediation flow component.
An interface map sets up a correspondence between the operations and the parameters of the interfaces in your process.
An interface map performs mapping operations between two interfaces when the operation on the originating interface has different names and different parameters than the operation on the destination interface. You can build a mediation flow that does the same thing.
Use a mediation flow component. You can also choose to convert your interface map to a mediation flow component.
The generation of IBM Forms in IBM Integration Designer
IBM Integration Designer wizards were used to generate an initial human task user interface for IBM Forms. Use one of the following methods to replace this initial generated human task user interface:
  • HTML-Dojo forms
  • WebSphere Portal portlets
  • Author a custom user interface using your choice of technology, including IBM Forms, leveraging the business process, and human task APIs.
Send Alert is one of the tools and components available from the palette when building services in IBM Process Designer. When developing a service diagram in IBM Process Designer, you could use Send Alert to send task-related alerts to IBM Process Portal. Remove Send Alert modeling elements from process models.
Features removed in V8.0 Recommended action
IBM Business Process Choreographer Explorer - reporting function Use your own custom code, or use IBM Business Monitor.
APIs for the BPC client model:
  • com.ibm.bpc.clientmodel.BFMConnection: getObserver/setObserver
  • com.ibm.task.clientmodel.HTMConnection: getObserver/setObserver
If your client code uses these methods, you need to remove them because the IBM Business Process Observer EJB has been removed.
