Deprecation of legacy VPP app management APIs

Release Notes

Abstract

Apple deprecates legacy Volume Purchase Program (VPP) app management APIs in favor of new and advanced VPP app management APIs. The features and improved asynchronous processing in the new app management APIs enable administrators to manage apps in a faster and more scalable way. MaaS360 customers are automatically migrated to the new APIs in a phased rollout without any effort from the administrators.

Content

Impact of the new VPP app management APIs:

  • In the legacy API, MaaS360 synced the VPP token count against Apple by running multiple requests in batches. In the new APIs, the VPP license tokens are asynchronously processed by Apple automatically.

Note: The Last Sync Time is updated when the apps or licenses count is updated in Apple Business Manager (ABM) or when the sync action is performed by administrators in the Maas360 Portal.

Path: Apps > App Catalog > More > Apple VPP Licenses > Apple Volume Purchase Program (VPP)

    VPP Last Sync Time

  • VPP codes are decommissioned. MaaS360 no longer displays Order No and VPP Code columns in the MaaS360 Portal.

Path: Apps > App Catalog > VPP Licenses
