Default Link Module not Specified error when creating module links

Question & Answer

Question

Why do I receive an error that says "This operation cannot be completed. The default link module specified is not a link module." when I try to create links between modules that I have full access to?

Answer

If you have not defined the linkset pairing in the source module you are creating links from in the File -> Module Properties -> Linksets tab then DOORS will try to create the links in a default link module.

This default link module is client specific. From the main DOORS explorer interface check Tools -> Options -> Settings and there is a field called "Default link module:".

If you are getting the error listed above, then the "Default link module" listed is not a valid link module, and thus a valid link module should be defined here.
