Problem
When reporting on dates and times from IBM Configurat Lifecycle Management (CLM) applications such as IBM Rational Team concert (RTC) and Rational DOORS Next Generation (DNG) using Report builder for IBM Jazz Reporting Service (JRS) there can be a difference in the times.
Cause
This can happen when you and the machine hosting CLM are in different Time Zones. The application GUI will always show the date and time in your local time zone. The reports in JRS show the time from the data warehouse which could be in a different time zone.
Diagnosing The Problem
Do a simple report in JRS and display the 'Create Time' and 'Modified Time' of the artifacts.
Then compare these to the 'Create Time' and 'Modified Time' in the CLM product. When there is a time zone difference between your location and the CLM server, you should see a difference.
Typically the difference will be a factor of hours or half hours if one is an Indian time Zone.
Resolving The Problem
This is by design. In CLM you want to see the times from your perspective. Otherwise you could see update times from before your current time. JRS stores the data in it's local time zone.
You can change the formatting of the dates in JRS to use the users local time zone. In Report Builder you can add a 'Custom Expression' column to the report where it shows the locale time.
So you have a range of options to show the data including Date and Time (date/time shown as a date and time in the client's locale).
It is also possible to customize the SQL to display the Time zone.
