Problem

Data source name not found and no default driver specified

Diagnosing The Problem

Try logging on to the SQL Server database from the server machine.

For Unix/Linux platforms, it is possible to access the SQL Server database from the server, however SQL Server database is a Windows application and must be running on a Windows machine.

Resolving The Problem

If you can access the SQL Server database, perform the following:

  1. Add the DSN to the [ODBC] section in the .odbc.ini file
  2. Try using the ipaddress of the machine for the Address in the .odbc.ini file,

    e.g., Address=ipaddress,port
