Custom templates for IBM Rational DOORS Word export

Question & Answer

Question

How can I use custom templates with the standard Rational DOORS export?

Answer

By default Rational DOORS uses the Normal.dot template while running an standard export from DOORS to Microsoft Word. To use a custom template with headers, footers , logos, etcetera, please follow the steps below:
  1. Create a Microsoft Word document with the desired header, footer , logo, etc.
  2. Save this document as a 'Document Template' (*.dot) file.
  3. Now while running an export from Rational DOORS to Microsoft Word select the 'Advanced Tab' in the 'Export to Word' window.
  4. Un check the option 'Use normal template'
  5. In the next field browse and select the template file created in step 1.
  6. Try running an export, the document created will be created using the template file specified.

You can only insert logos, or use custom header footer using the above method. If you would like to export specific Rational DOORS information in a custom format, you can use Rational Publishing Engine.
