Custom Interim Fix and Generic Fix Policy clarified

Question & Answer

Question

What is the standard policy for producing Custom IFixes (Interim) and Generic Fixes for IBM Sterling B2B Integrator?

Answer

Generic Fix

  • A published generic fix, such as 6.1.0.5_2, contains fix(es) for a specific critical issue(s).
  • A generic fix can be applied to a release or fix pack where applicable.
  • Generic fixes are validated and verified by IBM Engineering and QA before publishing.
  • It is recommended that you test functions affected by the Sterling B2B Integrator component fixed in your own environment prior to deploying on a production system unless an emergency need exists.

Custom IFix (Interim)

  • A single published custom is a specific fix for a single customer.
  • Sterling B2B Integrator can only guarantee to provide custom ifixes on the latest two fix pack levels of a release. A customer could be required to upgrade to the one of the two latest fixpacks before being able to install a custom ifix.
  • Sterling B2B Integrator will only provide individual custom ifixes upon request through a service call (SalesForce case).
  • An ifix can be applied to a release, fix pack or generic cumulative fix level, where applicable
  • Interim fixes are verified where reproducible by IBM Engineering before publishing.
  • Interim fixes are not generally released at the time but are rolled into future product.
  • It is recommended that you test functions affected by the Sterling B2B Integrator component fixed in your own environment prior to deploying on a production system unless an emergency need exists.
