Creating a Nondelivery Mail Box

Troubleshooting

Problem

This document provides information about creating a nondelivery mail box.

Resolving The Problem

To create a nondelivery mail box, you should do the following:

1.

Create a user profile (for example, QNONDELI) by using the CRTUSRPRF command.
2.Create a directory entry and attach it to this profile by using the ADDDIRE command. The following example uses the system name RCHASBDS. The key is the SMTP alias.

User ID/Address . . . . :   QNONDELI  RCHASBDS
Description . . . . . . :   NON-DELIVERABLE MAIL
System name/Group . . . :   RCHASBDS
User profile  . . . . . :   QNONDELI
Network user ID . . . . :   QNONDELI RCHASBDS

Mail service level  . . :   System message store
Preferred address . . . :   SMTP name

Press the Enter key to create the entry.
3.Use the WRKNAMSMTP command to modify the entry you just created. Set the following values in the QNONDELI directory entry. You can also use WRKDIRE and option 2 on the directory entry, then add with F19 to update the SMTP name.

SMTP user ID  . . . . . :   NONDELIVERY
SMTP domain . . . . . . :  host.domain

Note: The SMTP domain information can be found by typing CFGTCP, and then selecting Option 12. It must be in the format HOST.DOMAIN.
