Configuring OmniFind Enterprise Edition Version 8.4 to parse Microsoft Visio documents

Question

Do parser configuration files need to be updated so that OmniFind™ Enterprise Edition Version 8.4 can parse documents in Microsoft® Visio format? Which versions of Microsoft Visio does OmniFind Enterprise Edition Version 8.4 support?

Answer

OmniFind Enterprise Edition Version 8.4 supports documents in Visio format. The supported versions are Microsoft Visio Version 4, 5, 2000, 2002, and 2003, which are the versions supported by Oracle Outside In Technology (formerly known as Stellent). However, to implement this support, you must update the following parser configuration files:

  1. parserTypes.cfg
    Create or update this file in the ES_NODE_ROOT/master_config/collection_ID.parserdriver directory and ensure that the following property is included:

    EXTENSION  vsd  stellent

  2. stellentTypes.cfg
    Create or update this file in the ES_NODE_ROOT/master_config/collection_ID.stellent directory and ensure that the following properties are included:

    accept DEFAULT
    accept FI_VISIO3 vsd
    accept FI_VISIO4 vsd
    accept FI_VISIO5 vsd
    accept FI_VISIO6 vsd
    accept FI_VISIO2003 vsd

  3. stellent.properties
    This file is in the ES_NODE_ROOT/master_config/collection_ID.stellent directory.

    Add the OutsideInSupportedTypes property to this file and specify the correct stellentTypes.cfg file as the value. For example:

    AIX®, Linux®, or Solaris:
    OutsideInSupportedTypes = /home/es/esadmin/master_config/collection_ID.stellent/stellentTypes.cfg

    Windows®:
    OutsideInSupportedTypes = C\:\\home\\es\\esadmin\\master_config\\collection_ID.stellent\\stellenttypes.cfg

Important: Beginning with OmniFind Enterprise Edition, Version 8.5, the default configuration handles this problem. You do not need to change the parserTypes.cfg, stellentTypes.cfg, or stellent.properties files.
