Computing week number with Monday as the start of the week

Troubleshooting

Problem

I'm using IBM SPSS Statistics and need to take one of my date variables and compute a calendar week number for each date in my dataset. Technote 1476103 details how to do this such that week 2 will always start on the first Sunday following the first day of the year. For example, if January 1st fell on a Tuesday, January 6th would be the next Sunday and would start week 2. However, many businesses and most European calendars consider Monday the first day of any given week, not Sunday, and that might be what I need. Or I might want to start the week numbering on any other given day of the week. Is that possible?
