Abstract


This document includes information regarding IBM Spectrum Protect for Databases: Data Protection for Microsoft SQL Server Version 8.1 compatibility with earlier releases.

Content

  • Existing backups created using previous versions of IBM Spectrum Protect Databases: Data Protection for Microsoft SQL Server can be restored using Data Protection for Microsoft SQL Server 8.1.x within the constraints of the platforms and applications supported by the 8.1 release.
  • New backups created with Data Protection for Microsoft SQL Server 8.1.x cannot be restored using previous versions of Data Protection for Microsoft SQL Server.

  • Data Protection for Microsoft SQL Server 8.1.x can be used with:
  • Tivoli Storage FlashCopy Manager 8.1.x

  • The following platforms supported with Data Protection for Microsoft SQL Server 7.1.x are no longer supported with the 8.1 release.
  • 32-bit Microsoft Windows

  • The following operating systems supported in Data Protection for Microsoft SQL Server 7.1 are no longer supported with the 8.1 release:
  • 32-bit Windows Server 2008 SP2
  • 64-bit Windows Server 2008 SP2
  • 64-bit Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1

  • The following application level supported Data Protection for Microsoft SQL Server 7.1.x is no longer supported with the 8.1 release:
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008 SP3
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2012
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2014 (32 bit)
