Question & Answer
Question
Is it possible to grant access to groups in order to view certain collections of assets, locations, configuration items (CI) etc.?
Answer
Collections can be used to group assets from multiple sites. An administrator can grant access to a collection of locations, assets, or CI's for a security group.
Steps:
1. Create a collection called PUMPS. Add 3 assets to the PUMPS collection e.g. assets called 11430, 11450, CROSS_SITE.
2. Bring up the MAINTENANCE group in the Security Groups application.
3. Go to the Data Restrictions tab in the Security Groups application.
4. Add PUMPS in the Collection Restrictions sub-tab to grant access to the PUMPS collection,
i.e. maintenance group can only see the assets defined in the PUMPS collection.
5. Log in as smith (smith belongs to the maintenance group and the group has been granted access to both the BEDFORD and the DENVER sites. Go to the Assets application, only 3 assets (as defined in the PUMPS collection) can be seen.
