Cognos : Increase report execution time

We have very often come across issues were reports take a long time to execute.

One way to minimze the execution time is to change the report display format.

By default/Out of the box - report is executed and displayed in an HTML format.

One Page can display about 20 records or so, whenever the hyperlinks PageUp, PageDown, Top or Bottom is clicked the report query is executed again.

Which increases the overall report execution time. If we change the report format to 'pdf ' then the all the records are displayed in an single run.

To modify the report format :

Launch Cognos as a stand alone application

Select the report and choose 'Run With Options' icon displayed under the Actions column.

Change the report format to 'pdf' and save the report.

We have to repeat the Modifications for each report. (Applicable for Cognos 7.x series of reportnet version)
