Circular dependencies detected when migrating from WebSphere Studio Application Developer to Rational Application Developer

Troubleshooting

Problem

When migrating to Rational® Application Developer (RAD) from WebSphere® Studio Application Developer (WSAD) it is possible that circular dependency errors will be reported where once none existed.

Cause

There is better detection of circular dependencies in RAD than there was in WSAD.

Resolving The Problem

If you are certain that the circular dependency being detected is not going to be a problem in your particular instance then you can configure RAD to issue a warning rather than report an error. You can do this by selecting:

Window > Preferences > Java > Compiler > Build Path

and then setting Circular Dependencies to be Warning rather than Error.
