Troubleshooting

Problem

Trying to add a package to a report produces the following error in the log:

CCL-BIT-0006 The connection closed before the request is processed error

Seeing the following error message in cogaudit.log when adding data source package to a new report.

Symptom

A CCL-BIT-0006 The connection closed before the request is processed error appears when attempting to add a package to a report. This error is also displayed in the logs

Cause

A potential cause for this problem is a corrupted class cache file. Cognos leverages cached classes to improve performance, and if there is any corruption in the cache file, it can cause a multitude of errors

Environment

Tested on 11.0.10 on Windows® Server 2016

Diagnosing The Problem

There might be files with a name similar to C260M3A64P_cognos10SYSTEM_G21 generated in the system. The location of these files varies based on Cognos version.

For Cognos BI on Windows®, the files might be in C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Local Settings\Application Data\javasharedresources where the <user name> represents the User account referenced in the list of services under Windows®.
For AIX® or Linux® installations, they might be in /tmp/javasharedresources/

For Cognos Analytics, the location of these files is <Cognos Analytics installation folder>\javasharedresources.

Resolving The Problem

The solution to this problem is to remove the cache files from the previously mentioned folders. The class cache files are regenerated by Cognos.

These files must be removed from all dispatchers in the environment, and the dispatchers must be restarted in order for the change to take effect
