Cannot get authentication token after changing user or password in ibm-adp-secret

Troubleshooting


Problem

When deploying Cloud Pak for Business Automation that includes Automation Document Processing, the login and password values configured in the ibm-adp-secret are propagated to a number of different places within the Cloud Pak.  If those values are changed after the initial deployment, the propagated values are not updated.  This will cause various authentication errors to occur.

Symptom

Among other possible errors, the Content Operator log shows:

Cause

Some deployments require different values for properties that normally are propagated by deployment.  To avoid overwriting those modified values, the operator does not propagate value changes to any properties that already have a value.

Resolving The Problem

After making changes to the ibm-adp-secret and saving them:
  • Restart the cdra-deploy, cds-deploy, and cpe-deploy pods.
  • Check the users in the zen console.
    • If the password has been changed, update the password.
    • If the username has been changed, delete the user and allow the operator to recreate it.
