Problem
I have run a factor analysis in SPSS and determined which variables appear to have large loadings on each of 4 factors. I want to add the factor scores to the data set, but I want each factor score to be computed with only the variables which are salient on that factor (where I've defined salient as having an absolute value greater than or equal to 0.4). The options for saving factor scorees in the Factor procedure all use all of the variables to calculate (or estimate) each factor score. How can I use only the salient variables for each factor.
