Bulletin Board icon in Maximo is indicating there is an unread message even if the note has expired

Question & Answer

Question

Why is the Bulletin Board icon in the Start Center showing there is an unread message even if the note has expired?

Answer

When the system property PMBBISTRACKED is set to 0, Maximo will indicate there is a message all the time until the following 3 conditions are met at the same time:

    1. The message is expired.
    2. BBCron cron task runs to reload the Bulletin Board cache.
    3. A user interacts with the UI by clicking on the Bulletins , Home icons or by going to any other application.

When property PMBBISTRACKED is set to 1, the message indicator will refresh when the user clicks on the Bulletins icon to bring up the Bulletin Board dialog, clicks on the message Subject to display the Message content and then clicks OK to close the Bulletin Board dialog. The icon is updated real-time without having to wait for the BBCron to run
