Troubleshooting


Problem

Eclipse C/C++ Development Tools (CDT) 5.0.2, or earlier, setup with Cygwin on Microsoft Windows 7 does not show built-in include paths on a project's "Paths and Symbols" properties page.

Symptom

"Paths and Symbols" properties page of a CDT project does not show any built-in paths.

Windows 7

Diagnosing The Problem

  1. Create a new C++ project.
  2. In the Project Explorer view, right-click the project and click Properties.
  3. In the Properties wizard, expand C/C++ General and click Paths and Symbols.
  4. On the Includes tab, select the C++ language installed, such as GNU C++.
  5. Check if there are any built-in include paths listed.

Resolving The Problem

  1. In the Project Explorer view, right-click the C++ Project for which the include paths are required to be added and click Properties.
  2. In the Properties wizard, expand C/C++ General and click Paths and Symbols.
  3. On the Includes tab, select the C++ language installed, such as GNU C++, and click Add.
  4. In the Add directory path dialog box, select one of the include directories from the Cygwin installation and click OK.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to add all the include directories required for the project.
