Abstract

Procedures for removing the battery from the xSeries 306 server.

To remove the backup battery:

  1. Remove the cover:
    1. Turn off the server and all attached peripheral devices.
    2. Disconnect all power cords and all external signal cables.
    3. Loosen the captive screw on the rear of the server, then slide the cover to the rear and lift it off.
  2. Remove a PCI-X adapter:
    1. Loosen the captive screw on the rear of the server.
    2. Lift the riser card assembly straight up off the connector.
    3. Place the assembly on the static–protected surface.
  3. Remove the battery:
    1. Press the battery release tab to free the battery from the socket and lift out the battery.
