Problem
The Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) log shows under/over voltage or temperature errors marked as: "non-critical", "critical" or "recovered".
Resolving The Problem
Source
RETAIN tip: H183029
Symptom
The BMC log shows under/over voltage or temperature errors marked as: "non-critical", "critical" or "recovered".
Affected configurations
The system may be any of the following IBM eServer systems:
- IBM eServer 325, type 8835, any model
- IBM eServer 326, type 8848, any model
The Firmware level(s) affected is/are:
- IBM eServer 325, type 8835, BMC firmware version 1.42
- IBM eServer 326, type 8848, BMC firmware version 1.06
Solution
- Update the eServer 325, Type 8835, to BMC firmware version 1.43 (or latest).
- Update the eServer 326, Type 8848, to BMC firmware version 1.07 (or latest).
Workaround
The voltage and thermal error reporting code has been updated to fix these erroneous voltage and thermal "out of operating range" errors.
Note: This information is meant to inform the user of newly enhanced code. Proper debugging techniques should always be used when a system error is reported by the BMC logs.
