Abstract

This document lists the available patches for the common core services on IBM Cloud Pak for Data. Not all versions include patches. Only versions that include patches are shown.

The common core services are used by several services in IBM Cloud Pak for Data. Common core services patches are typically a prerequisite for installing a specific service patch. Do not install a common core services patch unless you are specifically instructed to do so as part of the steps for installing another patch.

  • Fixes logic to properly display connection details for connections that were created in a CPD 3.0.1 environment and then upgraded from CPD 3.5.0.
  • Allow users with Data Scientist roles to view assets in a catalog in Watson Knowledge Catalog.

  • Fixes issue with blank page when switching from the Review tab to the Overview tab in a notebook.
  • Fix for Data Scientist role being unable to view catalog assets.
  • Add the capability to enable or disable shared connections. 
  • Fixes issue with non-Administrator user with Manage Catalog permission not being able to create a catalog. 
Important for Watson Knowledge Catalog users
  • The cpd-3.0.1-ccs-patch-8 and cpd-3.0.1-wkc-patch-7 are corequisite patches and must both be installed. Do not install cpd-3.0.1-ccs-patch-8 without installing cpd-3.0.1-wkc-patch-7 as well.
  • If you need to run auto discovery and quick scan discovery against HDFS data sources, do not install this patch because assets will not sync to the IGC catalog. This issue will be resolved in the next Common core services patch.

  • Improved Git integration with Jupyterlab.
  • Added support for (optional) shared memory mounts when spawning.
  • Added support for (optional) node affinity spec in runtime definition.
The patch includes the following fixes:
  • Resolved globalization issues.
  • Fixed asset files crash.
  • Fixed vulnerabilities for the ibm-job-scheduler-prod service.
  • Fixed Japanese translation for monthly schedules.
  • Fixed intermittent failures when running jobs with custom environments.
  • Removed stacktrace in script jobs and fixed intermittent failures when running jobs with custom environments
  • Fixed inconsistent additional user configuration appearing when the admin did not click on refresh end points in the Hadoop edge node details page.
  • Hadoop Registration refresh handles when configuration contains invalid data.
  • Resolved security issues.

Description
The patch includes the following fixes:
  • Because of a vulnerability in Spark 2.3, the Spark 2.3 environments for Jupyter Notebooks and JupyterLab are removed. Notebooks that have been using the default Spark 2.3 environment or a custom environment using Spark 2.3 must be manually migrated to a Spark 2.4 environment.
  • Term assignments that are synced over from the Information assets view to the default catalog are now  indexed correctly in global search.
  • Asset Preview shows a better error message during masking.
  • Connections to ICD Redis are retried when necessary.
