Troubleshooting
Problem
If runtime provisioning is enabled in IBM WebSphere Application Server for z/OS, application servers in a Network Deployment cell might fail to start.
Symptom
The application-server output contains an error similar to the following:
CWXCS0200E: Method CSSZOSServantToControlProxyWrapper.register
ServantServiceInControlRegion: caught exception: java.lang.RuntimeException: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com.ibm.ws.xd.giop.interceptor

Environment
The problem only affects application servers in a Network Deployment cell.
Resolving The Problem
To avoid this problem, follow these guidelines:
- When you use the Profile Management Tool (for z/OS only) to create an application server that will be federated into a Network Deployment cell, do not set the performance option to Peak.
- In the administrative console, do not select Start components as needed for an application server in a Network Deployment cell.
- Do not use scripting to turn on runtime server provisioning for an application server in a Network Deployment cell.
To correct problems with a failing server, de-select Start components as needed in the administrative console page for the failing application server.
Note: You can optionally install Version 8.5.0.1 to resolve this issue.
