Error description
Process Designer may get connection error when trying to open, immediately following the login, stating: page cannot be displayed This is due to the BPM service port is bound to another interface and the internal redirect fails.
Local fix
On the system running the Process Designer, you can make a hosts entry (eg, C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts) that resolves the alternate interface IP address as well primary IP address, which allows the PD to load either.

**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of SmartCloud Orchestrator 2.4 **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: <BPM Process Designer cannot connect to multi-nic server> **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: When using the BPM Process Designer to access the BPM server, if an error message is displayed saying that a particular hostname cannot be contact, manually try to ping the hostname from a command prompt. If the host is unreachable, check whether the IP address corresponds to the correct NIC on the BPM server. For permanent resolution apply SmartCloud Orchestrator 2.4 Fixpack 3 when available.
Problem conclusion
When the BPM Websphere server was installed, it incorrectly used its own hostname for the Websphere node. This hostname may not be the DNS name by which other computers contact the server. The APAR changes the BPM installation cookbook to make the Websphere node name use the externally known DNS name for the node. The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance packages: | fix pack | 2.4.0.3
