APAR status

  • Closed as new function.

Error description

  • Allow paging space to be allocated anywhere on an NVMe EDEVICE
and to be of any size up to the available capacity.
Removes the 'below 64G' restriction for PAGE allocations on
    NVMe EDEVICEs.

Paging allocations on NVMe EDEVICEs were limited to 64G, which
prevented the full benefit this technology could provide from
being realized. This new function allows paging allocations to
be defined as large as the EDEVICE capacity (typically close to
1 terabyte) using the CPFMTXA utility. CPFMTXA allocation has
been enhanced for FBA devices and EDEVICEs to permit the size of
an extent to be specified in megabytes, gigabytes, or terabytes
(e.g., "PAGE 1T") and to adjust its boundaries automatically.
ICKDSF APAR PH52513 (PTF UI92308) is required to support larger
    allocations.
An additional fix checks the formatted block size of the NVMe
SSD and the initial SET EDEVICE command fails with a new variant
of message HCP377E if it is not 512 bytes.
Further fixes address potential problems with very high activity
rates and with missing interruptions. If a missing interruption
is detected, the following new message will be reported to the
    system operator:
         HCP1162I Active missing interrupt remediation
                  initiated for PCI function rpfid.
If the condition clears, the system operator will receive this
    message:
         HCP1162I Active missing interrupt remediation
                  terminated for PCI function rpfid.
