APAR status

  • Closed as new function.

Error description

  • A new NICDISTRIBUTION option is added to a VSwitch HiperSockets
Bridge that enables granularity to traffic from the HiperSocket.
When activated, this new option enables the Bridge to
distinguish and manage separately the traffic generated by
various HiperSocket connections on the same HiperSocket CHPID
    used by the Bridge Port.
Traffic entering and exiting the Bridge Port via an OSA link
aggregation group will be more evenly distributed among the
    assigned OSAs in the group.
Activation of this new option also enables the VSwitch to
extract IPv4 and IPv6 address assignments for display in
    QUERY VSWITCH.

    ****************************************************************
With the PTF for APAR VM66557, z/VM 7.2 adds a new
NICDISTRIBUTION option to the VSwitch HiperSockets Bridge. When
activated, the option enables the bridge to distinguish and
manage separately the traffic that is generated by various
HiperSockets connections that are on the same HiperSockets
CHPID. Traffic that exits the Bridge Port to an OSA link
aggregation group is more evenly distributed across the
entire port group. Activation of the new option also enables
the VSwitch to extract IPv4 and IPv6 address assignments for
display in the QUERY VSWITCH command, monitor records, and
    DIAGNOSE x'26C'.
