VM66397: FRMOWNED SERIALIZATION ERROR CAUSES HPC004

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• An HPC004 abend can occur if HCPALF has set FRMOWNED off before
  acquiring the UFO lock and HCPHPC acquires the UFO lock and is
  attempting to use the same FRMTE.

  In rare timing situations, both HCPALF and HCPHPC could be
  attempting serialization on the same FRMTE. If HCPALF first
  turns off FRMOWNED and then attempts to get the UFO lock and
  HCPHPC gets the lock first, then HCPHPC will see FRMOWNED OFF
  and abend before HCPALF fails and turns FRMOWNED back on.
  

Problem conclusion

• The serialization in HCPALF was changed to acquire the UFO lock
  first before turning off FRMOWNED. This stops HCPHPC from
  seeing FRMOWNED OFF if they are both going after the same FRMTE.
