APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • SMAPI appends the DMSSICNF COPY file (customer's updates to the
SMAPI configuration) to the end of the IBMCNF COPY file (IBM's
version of the SMAPI configuration file). This merged file is
then stored on the VMSYS:VSMWORK1.DATA directory as DMSSICNF
COPY. The main worker exec assumes the aforementioned directory
is NOT accessed when it starts its work. As a result, it thinks
it is using the new config parameters to inform its processing.
However since the "old" config parameters are, in fact,
accessed, those are used instead, resulting in the potential for
    LOTs of anomalous behavior.

    ****************************************************************
The SMAPI initialization process combines the IBM supplied
IBMCNF COPY configuration file with the user-customizable
DMSSICCNF COPY file for use by all the SMAPI worker and request
servers. The correctly combined configuration file is not always
the one used by the SMAPI initialization process.

Problem conclusion

  • The SMAPI initialization code has been updated to correctly
place the merged configuration file into the correct SFS
    directory.
