VM66326: PSF CCW WITH SUBORDER '46' ISSUED TO PAV ALIAS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• During logon of a guest exploiting Basic PAV they become hung.
  This happens during creation of a VDEV PAV Alias and Flashcopy
  is active on the corresponding RDEV.  If we encounter this
  condition we will erroneously try and issue a Read FC Relation-
  ship Tables CCW to the Alias.  The VDEV creation process will
  hold the PAV BASE RDEV lock and the current I/O process will
  attempt to obtain the same lock.  This causes a deadlock
  condition.

  is incorrect.  This caused a Guest to hang at logon.
  

Problem conclusion

• HCPLNS has been updated to prevent the Read FC Tables CCW from
  being issued to a PAV/HPAV Alias device.
