APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • SMAPI servers do not always notify the system administrator when
    restarting after certain errors.

When a SMAPI worker server or request server encounters certain
errors, the server first does an SMSTATUS and then restarts the
server. In some instances, there is no indication to the system
    administrator that this restart occurred.

    CSP case TS002525556.

    * RECOMMENDATION: APPLY PTF                                    *
    ****************************************************************
If a SMAPI request or worker server encounters specific errors,
the server will run the SMSTATUS command to collect various
SMAPI-related data at the time of the error. There was, however,
no notification sent to any system administrator stating that
    new SMSTATUS output was available.

Problem conclusion

  • With this update, the SMAPI request and worker servers will send
a message to the z/VM system operator immediately after issuing
    the SMSTATUS command.
