Problem summary

If a virtual machine with an IUCV connection to *MSG or *MSGALL
has an active secondary user and has SET VMCONIO IUCV, virtual
machine console output will be sent to the secondary user rather
than to the IUCV connection. APAR VM65715 added the TERMINAL
command PRECEDENCE option to allow this behavior to be changed,
such that TERMINAL PRECEDENCE STARMSG would send console output
to the guest via IUCV. However, this change only affected the
behavior of CP output.

Problem conclusion

  • Code was changed to honor the TERMINAL PRECEDENCE setting for
guest console output, sending it via the IUCV connection if
TERMINAL PRECEDENCE STARMSG is in effect.
