VM66231: HYPERSWAP DUE TO CC3 ON ONE PATH FOR MULTI-PATH DEVICE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• An unplanned Hyperswap occurred on a multi-path device when
  recovery I/O directed to one path on that device received
  a CC3.  The I/O should have been tried on all the paths
  before a hyperswap is initiated.

  A multi-path device was experiencing problems on one of its
  channel paths.  During error recovery an unplanned hyperswap
  occurred due to a CC3 received on recovery I/O directed to
  only one of the paths.  The recovery I/O should be tried on
  all available paths before determining whether to Hyperswap.
  

Problem conclusion

• Error recovery for a CC3, HCPERRD3, was modified to not invoke
  a hyperswap for recovery I/O directed to one path for a multi-
  path device.  The recovery I/O will be allowed to execute on
  all available paths before a determination is made on whether
  (or not) to Hyperswap.
