APAR status

Error description

  • If development APAR VM66095 is applied to the system, an
ABENDSYN002 can occur while monitor processing is cutting a
a SCSI Configuration record for an EDEV.

Local fix

This is a fringe case where the SCSI monitor configuration
records
were being created and the current processor lost control
causing it to be dispatched on a different processor while
monitor held a lock that has to be released on the same
processor that obtained it. Now that lock will no longer
be held across the call that may lose control.

Problem conclusion

  • The code has been changed to obtain the lock for the
monitor processing after the call that may lose control,
an issue introduced by the SCSI Monitor enhancements
SPE VM66096. In addition, another case where the lock
was not properly released when a call to get DCSS space
failed has been fixed to prevent a hang condition.
