Error messages encountered by HYPERSWAP QUIESCE commands and
their related return codes are not being seen by the userid
issuing the command. The messages are only issued to the
    OPERATOR console.

The actual quiesce task for a specified device or range of
devices was previously changed to no longer run on the VMDBK of
the guest who issued the command. This caused any error
messages to no longer be issued back to the command issuer and
for the return code from the message to be lost as well.

Problem conclusion

  • PE VM65897

The QUIESCE command was updated to pass the command issuer's
VMDBK address as input to the stacked quiesce routine. This is
now used as the target VMDBK for any error messages which may
need to be issued. A data area was also passed to allow the
return code from any error message issued to be returned to the
guest who issued the QUIESCE command.
