Error description

  • When running V710 stand-alone dump in an LPAR with more than
40 processors defined, stand-alone dump stops with no messages
indicating that it failed. Subsequent attempts showed that
stand-alone dump works if there were 40 or fewer processors
    defined in an LPAR.

When running V710 stand-alone dump in an LPAR with more than 40
processors defined, stand-alone dump stops with no messages
indicating that it failed. The failure also occurs sporadically
on second level systems that have 64 virtual CPUs defined.
Subsequent debugging showed that stand-alone dump works if
there were 40 or fewer processors defined in an LPAR. V640
stand-alone dump worked in all of the failing environments.

Comments

  • For V710, the image files are changed to allow up to 64 CPUs
to be dumped. Also, SADU71 IMAGE was changed so that the
dump produced will cause VM Dump Tool to use the V710 BLKLIBS
(files HCQD8710 VMDTDATA and HCQB8710 VMDTDATA) instead of
V640 BLKLIBS by default. Finally, the V710 image files are
updated to the latest service level.
For V640, the image files are updated to the latest service
    level.
