Error description

  • z/VM 7.1 enhanced dump processing to reduce the time required to
create, process, and transmit data from SNAPDUMP and hard Abend
dumps.  Additional enhancements will further improve the CPU
time for dump processing.

Comments


    

  • HCPDMP has been changed to decrease the amount of time spent
creating a hard abend or snapdump by prefetching storage pages
into cache as dump processing traverses the CP Frame Table
when deciding which frames to dump.  Also, code in the
TESTSTOR subroutine of HCPDMP has been optimized by using
techniques that minimize path length.  The result of these
changes is a noticeable improvement in dump creation time,
especially as real storage amounts increase above 500 GB.
Minimizing dump creation time will decrease the outage time
as experienced by customers.
