    ****************************************************************
Ordinarily, a program establishes a connection to the IUCV
*MSG or *MSGALL system service in order to intercept its own
console output. When a guest running such a program is
disconnected and has a secondary user defined, this behavior
changes and console output is sent to the secondary user.
In many situations, this behavior is unexpected and undesirable.

Problem conclusion

  • A new TERMINAL command option, PRECEDENCE, has been added to
control guest console output routing. If this option is set to
SECUSER, the default, console output goes to any secondary user
and not to the guest, compatible with current behavior. If the
PRECEDENCE option is set to STARMSG, output goes to the guest's
*MSG or *MSGALL connection and only if there is no such
connection, to the secondary user. The response to the QUERY
TERMINAL command has an additional line that reports the
    PRECEDENCE option setting.
